Old fashioned hot fudge sauce is something that we always keep stocked in our fridge. It's easy and quick to make, and once you have it homemade you'll never want to buy it again.
This is the perfect addition to my chocolate oreo ice cream cake, or to drizzle on top of my peanut butter chocolate protein shake.

- Heavy Whipping Cream: This is the liquid cream, not actual whipped cream.
- Brown Sugar: I prefer to use dark brown sugar, but light works fine also.
- Cocoa Powder: any unsweetened cocoa powder is great.
- Chocolate: I use the Trader Joes milk chocolate pound plus bar.
Recipe Instructions
Here is how to make this hot fudge. You will need a medium saucepan and a whisk.
Step 1: Add heavy cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, salt and 3 ounces of chopped chocolate to a medium saucepan.
Step 2: Whisk ingredients over medium heat until it starts to boil, which should take about 5 minutes. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and continue cooking and whisking for another 5 minutes.
Step 3: Remove saucepan from heat and add butter, vanilla and the remaining 3 ounces of chopped chocolate. Continue to whisk until all the butter and chocolate has melted.
Step 4: Pour into a jar or container. Allow to cool completely and then store in the refrigerator.

- I prefer to use milk chocolate, but semi-sweet or dark chocolate is great too. It's more of a personal preference.
- This sauce will thicken as it cools, so don't worry if it feels a little runny once it's done cooking.
- Top on ice cream, or brownie sundaes, use swirled into cookie dough, or as a layer in an ice cream cake!
