Why You Will Love This Recipe
- Orange Flavor: With just a bit of orange zest and juice these cookies have so much bright citrus flavor.
- Smaller Batch: This recipe makes 14, but can easily be doubled if you want more.
- Dried Cranberries & Coconut: These both add such a nice sweetness and extra texture to the cookies.
Ingredient Notes
Full ingredient measurements and instructions can be found in the recipe card below.
- Orange: You will use both the zest and the juice from an orange.
- Butter: I love using salted butter in my recipes.
- Cranberries: You'll use dried cranberries, if you can find orange flavored dried cranberries it adds even more flavor.
- White Chocolate Chips: Guittard is my favorite brand of white chocolate chips.
- Coconut: You'll use sweetened shredded coconut, but skip if you don't like coconut.
Recipe Instructions
Step 1: In the bowl of a stand mixer add both sugars and orange zest. Rub together with your fingers for 2-3 minutes until it becomes fragrant and the zest is mixed into the sugar. Add the butter and beat until light and airy, about 3 minutes. Add the egg, vanilla and orange juice and mix again.
Step 2: Slowly mix in salt, baking soda, baking powder and flour, being careful not to over mix. I usually stop when I still have some flour remnants around the bowl.
Step 3: Chop up the dried cranberries and add to the dough along with the white chocolate chips and coconut.
Step 4: Scoop the dough into large balls, I like to use a 3 tablespoon cookie scoop for these. Chill the dough for 2-24 hours if you have the time.
Step 5: Preheat oven to 350 F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 6: Place 6 cookie dough balls on your lined baking sheet. Bake the cookies for 11-13 minutes. You're looking for a nice light golden brown around the edges. Allow cookies to cool.
Expert Baking Tips
- Rubbing the orange zest with the sugars helps to release the oils from the zest and creates more flavor.
- If your cookies don't come out in a perfect circle, just run a small spatula around them right when they come out of the oven to reshape them.
- I have given both cups and grams as measurements. Grams will be more precise, especially when measuring flour. If you don’t have a kitchen scale, no problem! Just lightly spoon flour into your measuring cup to insure its not packed in there. Light and fluffy is the key.
FAQ
Yes, that would be fine, but you will lose some orange flavor if you don't use the orange zest.
You can bake these cookies without chilling the dough, but they will spread a bit thinner.
Yes, just do an even swap with the zest and the juice.
Storing & Freezing
Orange white chocolate cranberry cookies will remain fresh if stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. You can prep the cookie dough in advance and store it in the fridge for about a week.
Freeze your cookies in an airtight container for 2-3 months with them remaining fresh. You can freeze the cookie dough balls if you would like to bake them one at a time, or as needed.

Amazing taste!! Complex flavors, the sweet cranberry flavor and then the orange zest comes in after as if like a cherry on top 😘 it was really good. My husband liked them and he’s a big fan of traditional cookies and he greatly enjoyed these.

Great chewy cookie but keep in mind it’s super sweet. I have a big sweet tooth and it was even slightly too sweet for me. Going to keep the recipe for sure but just might decrease the sugar or coconut flakes next time. Thank you for this treat!

Oh man, the BEST orange cranberry cookies I’ve made! I’ve tried different recipes (with glazes, etc), but these have the most amazing taste. My husband and son were sad when these were gone.

My husband took one bite and said "these taste like Christmas morning-definitely keep this recipe" I took them to a party and everyone disappointed when the tray was gone. We'll be making this recipe again and again.
