Why You Will Love This Recipe
- Soft and Chewy: The cookies have the perfect soft and chewy texture with a slightly crisp edge.
- One Bowl: I love a quick cookie that can be made in one bowl in less than 30 minutes!
- Perfect for Holidays: Like pictured below, these are a great cookie to make with any festive holiday m&m's.

Ingredient Notes
Full ingredient measurements and instructions can be found in the recipe card below.
- Butter: I always use salted butter, but unsalted works great too!
- Sugars: You will use a combination of both brown and granulated sugar.
- Egg: It is best to use a room temperature egg. If you need to do this quick, just soak the egg in a bowl of water for 5-10 minutes.
- M&M's: I love using mini and regular size for a fun mix.
- Chocolate Chips: I used mini chocolate chips in these, but regular size works great too.

Step by Step Instructions

- Step 1: Place the butter and sugars in a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes. Mix in your egg and vanilla.

- Step 2: Slowly mix in baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour being careful not to over mix. I usually stop when I still have some flour remnants around the bowl.

- Step 3: Fold in chocolate chips and m&m's.

- Step 4: Scoop the dough into cookie balls, I like to use a 3 tablespoon scoop for these. You can chill dough for 2-24 hours if you have the time, but it isn't necessary.

- Step 5: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Place 6-7 cookie balls per baking sheet.

- Step 6: Bake for 10-13 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden brown. As soon as they come out of the oven press a few extra m&m's in to the tops and sprinkle with flaked salt.
Expert Baking Tips
- If using holiday m&m's just sub in regular size m&m's for mini since they don't make mini in holiday colors.
- I love sticking extra m&m's on top of the cookies right when they come out of the oven. It makes them extra bright and cute without having the m&m's melt or crack during baking.
- I have given both cups and grams as measurements. Grams will be more precise, especially when measuring flour. If you don’t have a kitchen scale, no problem! Just lightly spoon flour into your measuring cup to insure its not packed in there. Light and fluffy is the key.

FAQ
It helps the dry ingredients to absorb the butter, brings out the flavor more and also helps the cookies from spreading too thin.
Yes, either or both work great!

Storing & Freezing
M&M chocolate chip cookies will remain fresh if stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. You can also prep the cookie dough in advance and store it in the fridge for about a week.
These cookies can be frozen before or after baking. If baking from frozen I would bake them for 1-2 extra minutes at 325 instead of 350.
